My Experience ‘Drinking Around The World’ at Disney’s EPCOT
My family and I recently took a trip to Florida for my birthday. To celebrate, my boyfriend and I participated in the trend of 'drinking around the world’ at Epcot in Disney World, Florida.
We had a great time drinking around the world, but there are a few drinks I wish I knew to avoid, and which drinks to purchase. To help, I am going to share with you my experience at Epcot.
Before I begin, I want to remind you if you plan on drinking around the world, make sure to book an Uber, taxi, or designated driver before you begin your journey. Also, pack a water bottle to pace yourself and hydrate during Florida’s hot months. Plus, there are many benches and places to sit, so make sure to take breaks when needed.
Josh and I decided to skip about one or two countries in between the countries we drank at to give ourselves a break and to save money. The drinks are pretty expensive (from $5-25 per drink,) so make sure to dedicate about $100 - $200 to your drinks.
Scottish Thistle, England: 10/10
This drink was by far the best one I purchased that day. I believe Disney discontinued it for the remainder of the year since it is a specialty drink for Disney’s Flower and Garden Festival. It may be available next year, however, which is usually from February through May. Back to the drink, it had a very fruity/sweet taste to it. It was also frozen, which made it an ideal drink to have during a hot day in Disney. Plus, the cucumber on the stick was a nice touch.
2. Champagne ‘Veuve Clicquot Brut,’ France: 5/10
This was my first time trying champagne, and honestly, it was disappointing. Maybe I don’t like champagne, but I found the taste to be almost like a seltzer. The taste was a little sweet, but I had to force myself to finish it nonetheless. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys carbonation in their drinks, however, since it was not terrible.
3. Green Tea Pilsner, Japan: 6/10
Not only was this my first time trying champagne, but it was my first time trying draft beer as well. I enjoyed its watery taste because of the Florida heat, but at the same time, I wish it had a stronger taste. That might be because it was a beer, but even so, I wish I could have tasted the green tea flavor a little more.
4. Limoncello Spritzer, Italy: 8/10
This drink was a better-tasting version of the one I bought in France. It was sweet and fruity, but it also had a good amount of carbonation. The only issue I have with this drink is that it sort of tasted like sparkling water, which is a drink I avoid. But, if you are a fan of sparkling water, then you would love this drink. It was also a very beautiful reddish-pink color.
5. Dragon Dynasty, China: 7/10
I also love the light pink color of this drink. As for the taste, I enjoyed its light-fruity flavor. It was very cool as well – I think they added ice – so it was a good option for a hot day. Like the green tea draft, I wish it had a little bit of a stronger taste because it was delicious.
6. Red Sangria, Mexico: 1/10 7. Frozen Mango Margarita, Mexico: 9/10
Fair warning, I do not like strong drinks. The Red Sangria was so strong I could not finish it. Even Josh could not drink it because of how strong it was. I do not recommend this drink to anyone who feels the same way as we do. In its defense, the drink’s color was a very beautiful shade of red.
Mexico redeemed itself with the Frozen Mango Margarita, however. It had a delicious mango taste that was sweet but not too sweet, and it was frozen which was what we needed. It is a great drink to end our journey of drinking around the world because it was refreshing and hydrating as well.
Thinking back to my experience drinking around the world, there are drinks I regret buying such as the Champagne in France and the Red Sangria in Mexico. Yet, there were drinks I would buy again like the Scottish Thistle in England and the Frozen Mango Margarita in Mexico. Regardless of my experience, everyone has different tastes in beverages. I hope I gave you an idea of the drinks available in Epcot to aid your decisions during your upcoming trip.
